Star gazing with the neighbors
Impromptu Star-Party
I took my telescope out this evening to see if I could hone in my astro-photographic skills... or lack of skills. Before I mounted my camera to my telescope I enjoyed a quick tour of the skies. Got to see the Spiral Galaxy, Andromeda Galaxy, The Seven Sisters, Mars and a few other faint fuzzies. I then mounted my camera to take some shots of the Orion Nebula.
I intended to take many photos at different focus and figured that if I just took a ton of photos I may actually get something interesting to look at. After snapping three shots I heard a couple of people walking down the street. I said hello, they greeted me and asked if they could join me. Next thing I knew we were having an impromptu star-party.
The couple were my neighbors from down the street. So I took my camera off my telescope and put the eyepiece back in so we could all enjoy star-gazing. I was really impressed with their knowledge of the constellations, stars and nebula. I really enjoyed their company and it was fun to hang out with them and looking at what we could see.
I never did capture any more photos that evening. It was very cold and my feet where frozen, so I packed it in shortly after they left.
