Mint Hill Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail

If you read the December 4th issue of "The Mint Hill Times" you may have noticed the article called, "Mint Hill hopes for funding to build sidewalks" on the cover.

When I read the Mint Hill Times I was very excited to learn about the "Bicycle and Pedestrian Grant" and the possibility that we could have a trail network that would connect the surrounding neighborhoods to the town of Mint Hill. I have long wished we had such a network of trails and if we did my wife and I would certainly use them to commute into town for many of our activities, for the exercise, for a chance to spend more time out doors together.

I've ridden my bicycle down highway 51 in the past, but the speed that many cars travel down that road makes me nervous and I abandoned riding into Mint Hill down Hwy 51 about a year ago after my neighbor was hit and run while riding his bicycle. Instead my wife and I just ride around our little neighborhood, but it's only for exercise and the experience of being outdoors. However if we had a "Bicycle and Pedestrian" trail leading from our neighborhood into Mint Hill, my wife and I would most certainly use it for rides into Mint Hill and I would definitely use the trail about three times a week for traveling back and forth to Mint Hill.

I can't stress how important this trail system is to me. I think Mint Hill needs it, I believe it will enhance the appeal of Mint Hill, bring people together through positive and productive activities and it would be great for kids and adults to have a place to ride that is safe from speeding cars.
